A silver serpent sand cast in pewter - a handmade statement piece with a purposefully rustic and raw aesthetic.
SIZE:
- The snake is around 5 1/4 inches (13 cm) across when closed
For reference, the neck circumference of the model in the photos is a little over 13 inches (34 1/2 cm).
I have a neck circumference of 15 inches (38 cm) and can wear this piece (although it lies higher up on my neck).
Please note the necklace is not adjustable.

WEIGHT:
- This is a heavy, solid piece that weighs around 217 grams (7.6 ounces) although the weight is relatively well distributed across the neck.

The snake is sand-cast in pewter. Sand casting is a centuries-old technique. The process involves creating a shape in packed sand and pouring in molten metal. Once the metal has cooled and hardened, I add additional texture and patina to create dimension and depth. Unlike batch casting or casting into a silicon mould, the sand mould can only be used once. It is an intensive handmade process, and the finished piece is unique, purposefully rustic, and raw.

Serpents, or snakes, are one of the oldest and most ubiquitous mythological symbols. They are associated with some of the most ancient rituals known to humans and are inherently dualistic in that they can be both an expression of good and evil. As well as the co-inhabitant of the Garden of Eden, one of the best-known serpents, snakes are, in some cultures, fertility symbols. They are also often found as 'familiars' or companions of Gods and Goddesses or as the guardians of knowledge and wisdom.

Sealed with a wax polish. Clean with a soft damp cloth. An occasional coat of wax polish or oil will preserve the patina. Buff lightly with a polishing cloth or steel wool to bring up the shine.

Can I return my purchase for a refund?

What's your aesthetic and your pricing philsophy?

My work is purposefully raw. I use natural stones, crystals and salvaged materials, as these hold more meaning than shiny new things. My aesthetic celebrates the signposts; stitches, tool marks, natural texture and patina - these tell the story of a pieces' journey with me. I love that one of my customers described my work as 'beautifully broken' because there is great beauty in what some consider to be imperfection.

Pricing is one of the hardest things for an artist. I try to keep my prices accessible, whilst reflecting the time and materials that have gone into creating. When you purchase one of my pieces you are getting something that is unique and which has taken many hours to create.

    Custom and personalized orders

My process is very organic and personal so, the short answer is no, I don't generally take custom orders. However, please feel free to reach out to me if you have something in mind. I've worked with several of my regular customers to create a piece that uses a material or object that holds a special meaning for them.

Can I reserve an item? Do you offer lay-away?

I am happy to reserve items for up to seven days for returning customers (ie. people who have purchased from me before), but please note that by reserving an item you are committing to purchase that item.

I can also set up layaway (payment via instalments) for new customers. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this option.
