ab aliqua (Latin for 'out of something') is, for me, a reminder that change and transformation is always possible. That we may have little enough to work with, but there is always hope.
This rustic cuff is hand forged from copper - the metal hammered and shaped into a slightly anticlastic shape and stamped (the letters very lightly pressed with white enamel) and then fired with blood red lead free enamel. The resulting surface is partially chipped away to reveal the bare copper underneath.
Purposefully rustic, purposefully distressed.
Around 6 1/2 inches (16 cm) to end, plus a one inch+ (3 cm) opening. 1 1/2 inches (4 cm) wide.
Wear & Care:
- To wear - turn your arm sideways and push/slide the opening over the narrow part of your wrist.
- The bare copper is sealed with microcrystalline wax but will darken over time.
- Clean with a damp soft sponge or cloth
- The cuff has a little give, but take care not to over extend.
- Enamel is a process which permanently fuses glass powder to metal using high temperatures. The resulting surface is pretty tough but it is glass so take care not to drop onto a hard surface.

I find items shipped from Australia to most places in the world arrive within Australia Post's designated shipping time of 6-10 days. It can, occasionally, take longer. I ship with tracking as standard so you can keep an eye on your purchase as it wings its way to you.
Domestic items are shipped via Australia Post and should reach you in 2-5 days.
All my items are securely packaged and wrapped in new and clean recycled packaging.
I try to keep my environmental footprint as light as possible so I use ephemera (vintage sewing pattern tissue, old unwanted books and Atlases) in my wrapping.
Of course. What's the point of jewelry you aren't going to wear! Shopping online is convenient, but sometimes you need to see a thing up-close and and in-person to know how you really feel about it. If you'd like to return your item, just let me know within 14 days of delivery (please note: purchasers are responsible for return postage costs)
My work is organic, purposefully rustic and raw. My pieces take a journey with me as I create them. I use found and salvaged objects wherever possible as these tell a story and reflect my commitment to sustainability. My aesthetic celebrates the signposts - surface stitches, tool marks, texture and natural patina - that tell the story of that pieces journey with me.
When you purchase one of my pieces you are purchasing something that is one-of-a-kind, completely unique and which has taken many hours to create.
Pricing is one of the hardest things for an artist. I try to keep my prices accessible, whilst reflecting the time and materials that have gone into creating.
My process is very organic and personal so, the short answer is no, I don't generally take custom orders. However, please feel free to reach out to me if you have something in mind. I've worked with several of my regular customers to create a piece that uses a material or object that holds a special meaning for them.
