Of all the amulet jewelry worn by people from all cultures around the world, the ones that resonate the most for me are those created from everyday objects that cluster together around the neck - a collection of seemingly mundane objects that have been given power by the wearer.
This amulet necklace follows this tradition: A trinity of charms cluster together on a large oxidized copper ring - a bead stack from African glass and bone beads, a hand sewn leather pouch (an unseen crystal locked away in its interior), a resin spoon.
The chord is thick round salvaged leather, the ends bound in heavy copper wire.
Around 18 inches (46 cm) end to end. Closing at the front with a hand forged copper hook.
My work is purposefully rustic and raw. My solder joins, hammer strikes and stitches are often visible on the finished piece. For me, these are beautiful because they reflect the journey a piece has taken with me.
I frequently use salvaged and recycled elements - not only do these have a story of their own to tell, it also reduces the environmental impact of my work.

All my items are securely packaged and wrapped in new and clean recycled packaging.
I try to keep my environmental footprint as light as possible so I use ephemera (vintage sewing pattern tissue, old unwanted books and Atlases) in my wrapping.
Of course. What's the point of jewelry you aren't going to wear! Shopping online is convenient, but sometimes you need to see a thing up-close and and in-person to know how you really feel about it. My work is organic, purposefully rustic and raw. My pieces take a journey with me as I create them. I use found and salvaged objects wherever possible as these tell a story and reflect my commitment to sustainability. My aesthetic celebrates the signposts - surface stitches, tool marks, texture and natural patina - that tell the story of that pieces journey with me.
When you purchase one of my pieces you are purchasing something that is one-of-a-kind, completely unique and which has taken many hours to create.
Pricing is one of the hardest things for an artist. I try to keep my prices accessible, whilst reflecting the time and materials that have gone into creating.
My process is very organic and personal so, the short answer is no, I don't generally take custom orders. However, please feel free to reach out to me if you have something in mind. I've worked with several of my regular customers to create a piece that uses a material or object that holds a special meaning for them.
