An amazingly beautiful natural found dark brown (with a reddish undertone) ironstone concretion, worn leathery smooth by the South East Australian waves and set in an open sided copper cap. The copper is partially coated in lead free silver pewter - which is fused to the metal and looks like water pooling on the surface of the metal. An incredibly tactile and completely unique piece.
Next to the stone lies an evil-eye amulet, cast in sand from pewter.
Length: 21 inches (53 1/2 cm)
The stone focal is around 4 inches (10 cm) from top to bottom including the bale
Closing with a tinned copper hook at the back
The chain is surgical steel (grade 316L)
Care:
Metal surfaces and stainless steel chain are sealed with a wax polish. Clean with a soft damp cloth. An occasional coat of wax polish or oil will preserve the patina.
Ironstone concretions consist of concentric layers of dark brown iron oxide deposited around a nucleus. Removal of the nucleus in some way can result in the concretion being hollow. This type of concretion forms during weathering of sedimentary rocks, such as sandstones, that contain large amounts of iron. (source: Museums Victoria).

My work is purposefully rustic and raw. I use salvaged and repurposed elements as much as possible. Rather than sterling or fine silver I prefer to use base metals (tin, copper and brass) which I manipulate and play with to add texture and dimension. Far from a compromise, I love the look of these materials and using them in my work allows me to create bold pieces which take no prisoners; big stones and chunky chains. Jewelry for the free of spirit and wild at heart.

My work is purposefully raw. I use natural stones, crystals and salvaged materials, as these hold more meaning than shiny new things. My aesthetic celebrates the signposts; stitches, tool marks, natural texture and patina - these tell the story of a pieces' journey with me. I love that one of my customers described my work as 'beautifully broken' because there is great beauty in what some consider to be imperfection.
Pricing is one of the hardest things for an artist. I try to keep my prices accessible, whilst reflecting the time and materials that have gone into creating. When you purchase one of my pieces you are getting something that is unique and which has taken many hours to create.
My process is very organic and personal so, the short answer is no, I don't generally take custom orders. However, please feel free to reach out to me if you have something in mind. I've worked with several of my regular customers to create a piece that uses a material or object that holds a special meaning for them.
I am happy to reserve items for up to seven days for returning customers (ie. people who have purchased from me before), but please note that by reserving an item you are committing to purchase that item.
I can also set up layaway (payment via instalments) for new customers. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this option.
